Goo Building Mac OS

When you're setting up a Hackintosh, the single most important tool in your process will be the bootloader, which is the program that enables your computer to 'boot' Mac OS X. Ever since the release of OS X El Capitan in 2015, the new Clover Bootloader has rapidly become the most popular bootloader within the Hackintoshing community, and for good reason: compared to the old Chameleon/Chimera. Example build on Mac OS X 10.8.x (Mountain Lion) or 10.9.x (Mavericks), using recommended tools installed as described in: Mac OS X. If is not strictly necessary use full paths, e.g., to compilers, if they are on the PATH, but is recommended good practice. Save the following fragment in a new file, BuildDakota.cmake.

Ever need to know what OS X Build correlates to which version? The simplest way to find out what version your running is in the Terminal with the command sw_vers.

Check the Applications folder and see if there is an app named 'Install macOS (OS Name)'. If there is, go to the next step. If not, go to the App Store (online). Do a search for the name of the current Mac OS version, click on the icon or 'VIEW' above the entry for the OS, then on the next screen click on 'GET'.

Devices and Mac OS X version

VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.

If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple.
